All characters except for story characters and tourists can be befriended and some even romanced. Gifts can be given once a day to these characters. Other interactions that can raise relationship levels include saying hello, talking to them during their different activities through the day, and completing quests.

Story Characters

Shopkeeper NPCs

As time goes on and certain quests are completed, shopkeepers can be added to the island. With the exception of Nobu Jr., shopkeepers are invited via the mailbox by selecting their job type and personality - or selecting "Willing to Move" instead of a personality type to randomize your shopkeeper. Once you place their house in Town, they will move to Snacko Island. Some shopkeepers require a specific biome to be unlocked via story before they will be available to invite. Please note that in Early Access, only one NPC of each role can be on your island at the same time.


Alchemist

Alchemists can be invited after completing MIAO 1. Their main goods are color dyes.

Carpenter

Carpenters can be invited after receiving MIAO 1 on Spring 3. They sell building materials and furniture, their Blueprint Backlog involves crafting recipes, and can also help with House Upgrades.

Grocer

Grocers can be invited after receiving MIAO 1 on Spring 3. Their main produce involve seasonal seeds, ingredients and farming equipment.

Restauranteur

Restauranteurs can be invited after completing MIAO 2. They sell certain types of Food and Recipes.

Other

Non-Shopkeeper NPCs

Non-shopkeeper NPCs can also be invited via your mailbox! With the exception of Miss Curator, Mikan, and Nobu, non-shopkeepers can be invited by selecting their role type and personality - or selecting "Willing to Move" instead of a personality type to randomize your shopkeeper. Once you place their house in Town, they will move to Snacko Island. Some NPCs require a specific biome to be unlocked via story before they will be available to invite. Please note that in Early Access, only one NPC of each role can be on your island at the same time.

Mail Clerk

Mail clerks can be invited after completing MIAO 1, and are required to send any current NPCs living on the island away:

Tourists

Tourists are characters that show up randomly on the island. The more MIAOs you complete, the more tourists can appear in your town. They wander and have a small pool of dialogue lines. You cannot gift items to tourists, nor can you raise or change your relationship with them in any way. The current list of tourists are:
